The ILA dockworkers union have announced today that they intend to strike at US ports starting this Tuesday. Here's what this means:

  • Ports across the East and Gulf Coast will be closed starting Oct 1st. This includes the Port of Miami and Port Everglades.
  • We are doing our best to get every import container out and ingate everything possible before the ports shutdown. Containers that remain will be securely stored.
  • Ocean carriers have already announced additional surcharges for export cargo departing at the end of October
  • We are seeing a lot of encouragement from the federal government for the dockworkers and the marine terminals to come to a resolution quickly.
We remain positive that despite the ports being shutdown, the strike will resolve quickly and the severe congestion will come to an end before the end of October.

In the meantime, if you have containers sailing through the Ports of Miami and Port Everglades, reach out to us for rates and book your trucks today. Give me a call to discuss: +1-305-985-6085.
